POSITION: LIFESTYLE SPECIALIST

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and experienced Lifestyles Specialist to join our team at Bay 9 Holdings LLC dba Edgemere located in Dallas, Texas. The Lifestyle Specialist Healthcare is responsible for planning and leading activity programs, encouraging participation and assisting in achieving resident engagement that fulfills successful aging lifestyle dimensions of social, spiritual, intellectual, and physical. This person uses their highest skills in creating an environment of resident engagement. This person’s special skills and training is used in attending to resident care plan goals.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a Full-Time, non-exempt, hourly position with a salary of $17.00+ per hour. In addition, Bay 9 Holdings LLC dba Edgemere offers competitive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, generous PTO and holiday vacation time, 401K and stock options.

  • Orchestrate and lead activities for resident participation in group structures. Strengthen resident activity with assisting in development and coordination of programs. Motivate residents to participate in daily planned activities.
  • Ensure resident satisfaction levels are achieved through quality and hospitality services and initiatives.
  • Establish one-on-one relationships with residents. Maintain one-on-one visitation schedule. Explore resident interests and conduct resident interest surveys as assigned.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing appropriate programs using success aging practices.
  • Assist in organizing resident group trips and outings.
  • Communicate program information via various media methods to include weekly/ monthly newsletter, in-house television channel, postings, mailing, electronic messaging, etc., as requested.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures. Responsible for utilizing special skills and assessments and care plan development. May be assigned to attend care conferences.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Certifications preferred and may include: NCCAP (ADS, ADPC, ACC), Music, Art or Horticulture Therapy, Gerontology and Therapeutic Recreation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Experience in recreational activities preferred.
  • Possess a genuine appreciation of geriatric population.
  • Ability to work with demanding residents and family members in a calm and professional manner. Ability to deal with resident behavioral problems as they arise.
  • Knowledgeable of computer functions and the ability to learn software programs used for documentation, participation records, medical records, communications, and audio-visual tools.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, and implement events independently and in group involvement.
  • Adeptness to listen and understand information presented by residents and management.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors, and team members.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The physical requirements of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing functions. The position often involves medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or a up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequent repetitive motion activities are also required. Must be able to read print and computer-based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Most of these functions require medium physical exertion and are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperature. May be exposed to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, cleaning chemicals, dust, odors and a variety of different pets.

INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with team members and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities daily while being responsive to needs as they arise.

OSHA Category Classification:

Category III: Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.

The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids.
